Today we went for a short walk in Schlüsselburg. Schlüsselburg is located in the north of Petershagen on the Weser river and is mainly known for the barn district (Scheunenviertel) and of course the Schlüsselburg castle built in 1335.
In Schlüsselburg there is a 2 km long circular route of the Biological Station Minden-Lübbecke e.V. with information boards that leads through the different habitats of the floodplain.
Now in winter there was not much to see except for a few geese and a pair of storks. In spring we will come back again to discover rare wildflowers and the unique bird life of the floodplain.
